Are QR Code Sign-In Apps required to be used in addition to LoopKiosks?

Are QR Code Sign-In Apps required to be used in addition to LoopKiosks?

Each state has been in control of its own contact tracing systems and efforts in response to COVID-19, including providing supporting tools such as QR Code check in apps for ease of use of citizens to help improve compliance with contact tracing efforts. We’ve done a review of each states check-in requirements (as of the time of writing: 12th May 2021) to make it easy for you to understand what the current contact tracing system requirements are in your state, and how the LoopKiosk fits into these mandates.

Victoria:

The VIC Government offers the free VIC Gov QR Code Service. There is a mandate for certain types of Victorian venues and facilities to use the VIC Gov QR Code Service, which excludes Aged Care facilities, Schools and private access office buildings. You can see a full list of the required venues and businesses at this link.

Note that there has been a recent announcement in regards to the VIC Gov QR Code Service as it will be disabling it’s integration channel (API) for other QR Code based contact tracing apps, meaning that all businesses that were using a competing QR Code will be required to migrate to the VIC Gov service. This announcement only relates to simple QR Code check-in systems, not the LoopKiosk entry management system.

The LoopKiosk and associated software allows for a more sophisticated and robust entry management process than is available from basic QR Check In apps, and meets the requirement of enabling you to quickly and easily generate a report for contact tracing efforts of all people that have signed in to your premises in the prior 28 days.

There is no requirement for individuals entering your aged care facility, school or private office building to use the VIC Gov QR Code Service if they are signing in via the LoopKiosk system.

New South Wales:

The NSW Government offers the free Service NSW App for businesses to use to assist with contact tracing. There are no mandates for NSW aged care, schools or private work places to use the Service NSW App.

Ensuring that all people that come onto your premise complete the sign in processes via a LoopKiosk device will ensure that you have a digital log of those sign in events available in your LoopLearn Web Console, meeting the requirements for contact tracing. There is no need to use the Service NSW App in addition to the LoopKiosk.

Tasmania:

The TAS government offers the free Check In TAS App. There is a mandate for certain types of Victorian venues and facilities to use the Check In TAS App, which excludes Aged Care facilities, Schools and private access office buildings. You can see a full list of the required venues and businesses at this link.

There is no requirement for individuals entering your aged care facility, school or private office building to use the Check In TAS App if they are signing in via the LoopKiosk system.

Queensland:

The QLD government has recently released its free Check In QLD App. This QR Code check in app is mandated to be used by hospitality businesses in Queensland.

There is no requirement for individuals entering your aged care facility, school or private office building to use the Check In QLD App if they are signing in via the LoopKiosk system.

Western Australia:

The WA government offers the free SafeWA App. The use of this app is not mandatory for any businesses.

There is no requirement for individuals entering your aged care facility, school or private office building to use the SafeWA App if they are signing in via the LoopKiosk system.
